Capt. Dorothy Smolkis - Plainville, Ct
Captain Dorathy Smolkis serves as an Evangelist in Residence at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Plainville Connecticut. She is the Director of the church’s Outreach Committee and serves on the vestry. Additionally, she has become involved on the national level by serving on her dioceses General Committee.
Most importantly, Dorathy is helping the clergy and laity become more comfortable reaching out into the community. Below are some of her stories.
Thank you for praying for the community outreach for Holy Trinity Church in CT. We had a table at the Fair, shared about Jesus and prayed with people there. We had many conversations and growth in the members of Holy Trinity as they got more comfortable with outreach.
Terryville Lions Country (75th) annual Fair saw approximately 25,000 visitors.
Over the entire three day weekend we had fifteen volunteers, three joining in on multiple days, two who have never served at this fair before. It was a good fair overall, with a bigger turnout than last year.
We shared Lifesavers. Approximately 75 Olive wooden crosses, our daily bread was offered along with “who I am in Christ” book marks and Holy Trinity business cards. We also had Bibles on hand to share if anyone wanted them. We had smiley face and hearts stickers for children and our large sandwich style sign standing next to our Farm themed table (the fair has a theme each year) that asks “How May we pray for you?” That invites folks to be prayed for even before a verbal invitation.
